Corporate Employment Law

Proactively managing employment risk.

Hansen Dordell has significant experience representing small, medium and large employers on employment related issues.

Our attorneys combine an understanding of our client’s business complexities with a high degree of legal and technical expertise in employment laws and regulations. We work closely with human resources personnel, supervisors, and business owners on a variety of issues, as well as staying focused on reducing employment-related claims.

From pre-employment inquires and development of job descriptions and employee handbooks, to individual terminations and workforce reductions. We skillfully guide your business through each phase of recruiting, hiring, retaining and, when necessary, terminating employees.

Compliance – We assist our business clients on all aspects of compliance with the Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Wage and hour laws, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Equal Employment laws (EEOC) and other state and federally-mandated programs.

Day-to-Day Issues – We counsel our business clients on the importance of preventing problems before they occur. Each day, we assist our clients with issues related to hiring, employment contracts, non-compete and confidentiality agreements, policy development, handbooks, wage and hours issues, investigations of employee misconduct, employee disciplinary issues, terminations, and the many other complex issues associated with employment law. We offer on-site training and seminars to our business clients in all areas of need.

Employment Litigation – We are not only skilled at answering the day-to-day questions our clients have but will zealously advocate for our clients facing litigation. We have extensive experience working with and practicing before the state and federal courts, various state and federal agencies, including the Department of Labor, Minnesota Revenue, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and state and local fair employment practice agencies. We defend business clients on matters involving discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, breach of contract, defamation, and other employment-related disputes.
