“I work hard with clients to try and prevent litigation when possible, but if necessary, will zealously provide the best possible defense to clients in a cost-effective manner.” -Evan W. Cordes
Evan W. Cordes is an attorney at Hansen Dordell. He joined the firm in the fall of 2015. Evan works in the areas of workers’ compensation, personal injury, and related employment law. Having been in-house counsel at a self-insured public entity, Evan brings with him an understanding of what employers and insurers both need and want from an attorney. He works diligently to bring claims to their best resolution in a cost-effective and efficient manner for his clients.
Evan’s most recent prior experience was as in-house counsel for the Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust where he worked with 81 out of the 87 counties on workers’ compensation litigation, employment law and government liability. Before that he represented employees at the law firm of William J. Krueger P.A.
His interest is and always has been litigation. On his way to Hansen Dordell, he has had some unique public policy experience as well. This includes clerking in the United States Senator for Senator Amy Klobuchar as a law student. There he worked on various issues and assisted in preparing the Senator for the nomination of now Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan. He also clerked for Target in their government affairs division prior to moving back into litigation in 2011.
Evan has won several appellate cases including a defamation and first amendment claim representing the CEO of a corporation against the defamatory statements of several shareholders as well as overturning a felony drug conviction.
