On November 1, 2016 Hansen Dordell will mark its 70th anniversary. Having been a part of this remarkable firm for almost 18 years, I wanted to take some time to reflect on this significant milestone.
When Horace Hansen started this firm with Larry Hazen in November 1946, they immediately earned a reputation as strong and innovative advocates. While insurance defense has been a major focus of the firm’s practice for almost its entire history, over the years Hansen Dordell has developed a strong presence in the legal community for its varied practice areas, including trusts and estates, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation. Today, Hansen Dordell enjoys a strong reputation in Minnesota and Wisconsin state, federal, and administrative courts, where our attorneys have tried hundreds of cases and have resolved thousands more disputes on behalf of their clients.
The firm has seen its share of sterling attorneys come through its doors, including Tim Dordell, Gene Bradt, David Odlaug and Bill Bradt. Along with Mr. Hansen, these attorneys formed the quintet that became known as Hansen, Dordell, Bradt, Odlaug & Bradt (HDBOB). Gene Bradt in particular was influential as one of the mediation pioneers in the State of Minnesota. The firm is also proud to have turned out two Ramsey County District Court judges: James Lynch and John Guthmann. Many of our attorneys devoted decades of their legal careers to Hansen Dordell.
As an attorney, I have benefitted from the mentorship of many of these legendary attorneys. My current colleagues and I continue to promote civility in the legal community along with exceptional legal representation and strong advocacy. When I accepted the position of associate attorney in 1998, a judge told me that I was joining a firm that had “instant credibility.” We continue to strive to maintain that reputation.
Today, Hansen Dordell provides a variety of legal services to its clients. Our practice areas now include: insurance defense, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice, social security, personal injury, no-fault, products liability, premises liability, employment law, trusts and estates, business litigation, criminal law, and mediation services. Some of these practice areas were developed or expanded by members of our current team, something I am very proud of. Our focus is to seek the best resolution for our clients, whether that means taking a case to trial or finding a creative settlement.
Hansen Dordell has enjoyed representing its clients over the past seven decades, and we would like to extend a sincere thank-you to our clients for the trust they have given us since our firm’s inception in 1946. We look forward to continuing to serve you with integrity and excellence for many years to come.
In 2016, Hansen Dordell is celebrating 70 years of excellence. Founded in 1946, the firm’s reputation for innovation, civility, and integrity endures to the present day. We thank our attorneys and our clients for their dedication and trust, and look forward to many more years of service.
